We accelerate
and enable impactful exchange and interaction between science
and society

About

The IETI project is hosted by the Public Engagement & Impact unit of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN). Our aim is to increase the quality and efficiency of the MfN’s Public Engagement, thus contributing to the institutions’ academic, societal and environmental impact. We are doing this through research, impact planning and assessment, as well as culture change and co-creation processes.

IETI Hub

for Research Impact

In November 2024, we launched the IETI Hub for Research Impact — a six-month capacity-building, mentoring, and support programme for researchers and professionals at the MfN, focused on integrating impact-oriented Public Engagement (PE) into their work. In line with the museum’s mission, the IETI Hub promotes the mindset that both research and society benefit from mutual exchange, offering a space for reflection, experimentation, collaboration, and co-creation.

The Hub was part of an action research process, building on
IETI research on experiences, motivations, barriers and needs related to practicing Public Engagement at the MfN.
